ABOUT LEAH HARDING

Leah Harding is an Arabic-speaking international journalist who spent nearly a decade with Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar. Leah is an Emmy-nominated presenter and has covered stories ranging from Cameroon’s linguistic divide to the ongoing war in Yemen. Leah is also a media specialist, liaising with individual clients and institutions like the University of Florida.

Harding began her career in broadcast journalism as a reporter at WUFT-TV, the PBS station in Gainesville, Florida in 2013. She covered state, county and city projects promising nearly 2,000 homeless people in north Florida food, shelter and healthcare services. In 2014, she moved to Qatar with Al Jazeera English where she helped launch the network’s first interactive Newshour, NewsGrid. She was a presenter, reporter and producer on the Emmy-nominated flagship show and occasionally presented live sports bulletins. She has since reported from six continents and was the first international correspondent to go live in Ethiopia during the 2019 attempted coup.

Hailing from Orlando, Florida, Leah has also lived in Jordan, Ethiopia, Kenya, New Zealand and Qatar. She is an avid traveler and has visited nearly 70 countries and all seven continents. Leah graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication-News and a minor in Arabic Language and Literature.

Leah is an advanced scuba diver and enjoys hiking around the world. She is passionate about animal rescue and sits on the Board of Directors of Fur Bae, a group devoted to relocating stray dogs from abroad to North America. Leah’s adopted Doberman, Josie, and former Doha street cat, Jefferson, are the true stars of her Instagram.
